Cosmetic work has really changed from the time I graduated. I mean, it has really evolved. The materials that we use, we can make them thinner, stronger, and it looks so much better. I recently was talking to a patient, it was a really great story where she had been talking to her girlfriend who was going to need some dental work, and her girlfriend said to her, “You know, you’re just so lucky. You’ve got these beautiful teeth. You don’t even need the dentist.” Well, little did she know I’d done ten veneers on the top and ten on the bottom, so everything she was seeing was our work, because this lady previously had very dark tetracycline stains. The new dental materials, as I said, you can make them thin, and yet they have translucency. They can really look like real teeth, and that’s what you want. Ideally, you want somebody to think, “Man, you’re just lucky you’ve got a great smile, ” not, “Oh, you’ve got nice dental work.” There’s a difference.
