Plastic Treasures One million plastic drinking bottles are purchased every minute In total, half of all plastic produced is designed to be used only once — and then thrown away But what if I told you that your plastic trash is a treasure? and that your used plastic bottles could pay for a child’s education 8-year-old Peter comes from a low-income neighbourhood in Lagos, Nigeria where one school is taking used plastic bottles, as payment of school fees for underprivileged children. These bottles are in turn sold to companies which recycle them creating eco-friendly solutions to plastic waste whilst giving children like Peter, a chance to have an education. African Clean-up Initiative and wecyclers set up a program that allow parents to pay for their children’s school fees using plastic bottles.
