What are the latest advancements in paediatric cardiac surgery?
The surgery has gone a long way since its
inception in our medical field in late 1950’s. The technology has improved so much that even
the complex defect can be mapped so well. We get a 3D printing. The surgical technology has improved, we get finer instruments. We are able to widen the boundaries in such a way that
many of our babies are even smaller than what we used to see years ago, now we are able
to offer surgeries even for pre-term individuals. That means we’re able to restore the normal
life span in the children who would otherwise have not had surgical help a couple of decades
